ARCHER S. Anbarasi and sailor Nurul Elia are among the Malaysian athletes who could still make the final list for the Beijing Olympics next month.

Anbarasi, 27, who was an arrow short in the qualifiers last month, has until July 23 to know whether she could make her maiden Olympic appearance.

It’s a similar situation for national sailor Nurul Elia Anuar in the Laser Radial category.

Malaysian Yachting Association have appealed to the International Sailing Federation to give Nurul Elia a ‘wild card’ entry to the Games.

“We will wait for the decision and hopefully both these athletes will be in the China-bound contingent,” said National Sports Council director general Datuk Zolkples Embong.

Meanwhile, Astro, the sponsors of Malaysia’s contingent, launched their 11 interactive channels for the Olympic Games coverage yesterday.

Besides the 11 channels on Astro SuperSport ( 816-826), the Astro Dynasty customers can follow the Olympics in Cantonese on the TVB Olympic channel 318.

Present to officiate the event was Olympic Council of Malaysia president Tunku Tan Sri Imran Tunku Ja’afar, Zolkples and Astro’s CEO Rohana Rozhan.

“OCM would like to thank Astro for their sponsorship of the Malaysian Olympic team and their commitment to the development of Malaysian sports, by bringing the games to our homes,” said Tunku Imran.
