During an online live chat session today, Malaysia's dive queen
Pandelela Rinong rejected a blind date from afan today but later
accepted an online proposal.
However, the marriage remains in
cyberspace as the Sarawak-born 19-year-old athlete said she would accept
the proposal in Sims, a popular online simulation game.
Many questions raised during the lighthearted 80-minute Question Time held by Yahoo! Malaysia were focused on the love life of the young lady who gave Malaysia a largely unexpected medal in the 10m springboard event at the London Olympics.
But the shy and playful athlete kept mum about it, only revealing that her ideal partner must share her passion for (South) Korean popular music or Kpop.
Peter: Hi Pandelela...are you still single?
Pandelela: No and yes, huahuahua.
Ronald: Do you have any planning in love life?
Pandelela: Yes,everybody needs love.
Hilary: What is the characteristics of your ideal partner?
Pandelela: Have interests in Kpop and funny as well.
KL man: Hi Pandalela, u ni single lagi ke? i nak ajak u blind date mlm ni boleh tak? (Are you still single? Can I invite you for a blind date tonight?)
Pandelela: Sorry hari ni saya busy. (Sorry I’m busy today.)
Wangdu: Will you marry me?
Pandelela: Yes in the Sims, be my neighbour!
During the chat, Pandelela, who speaksIban and Mandarin, shared the interaction between her and Malaysian Olympic silver medallist Lee Chong Wei, describing the latter as one of her idols.
“We didn’t advise each other that day. We congratulated each other and took pictures (together),” she said when asked whether they had given each other advice during the Olympic Games in London.
Pandelela, or Lela as she prefers to be called, said she will not follow in Lee’s footsteps to publish an autobiography.
“No, I am not that good as Lee, I still have a lot to learn.”
Invited for tea with William and Kate
She revealed that both of them have been invited for a tea party with Prince William and his wife Catherine when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visit Malaysia next month.

Pandelela: Very very sad... because she is my motivation.

Pandelela: I don't know, huhu. My next goal in life is to make my country proud.
