Veteran official for Olympic triathlon

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia have no qualifier for triathlon but there will still be a representative for the sport in the Beijing Olympics.

Veteran Sabah sports official Balwant Singh Kler has been appointed as a technical official for triathlon, which will be held on Aug 18 and 19.

Balwant was a volunteer in athletics for the 1988 Seoul Olympics but this will be for the first time that he will officiate in the Games.

He has also officiated twice in the world triathlon championships (1994, 2000) and also two Commonwealth Games (2002, 2006).

He was also the technical official in the 2006 Doha Asiad.

The Star
