Chinese and foreign Olympic reporters' New Year's gala staged

On the evening of December 7, 2007, BOCOG along with the Beijing Olympic Media and Communications Coordination Group and the All China Journalists' Association, held a New Year's gala for Chinese and foreign Olympic media.

In 2007, the preparations for the Beijing Olympic Games saw the full implementation of the scientific outlook on development and great progress in various fields, including venue construction, market development, cultural activities, media services and volunteer recruitment.

The Chinese Government has attached great importance to the media services for the Beijing Olympic Games and made unbending efforts to provide quality and convenient services for those media representatives covering the Olympic Games.

BOCOG Executive Vice-President Jiang Xiaoyu made a speech at the gala. He expressed his sincere thanks and greetings to the various representatives, including those from the embassies, news executives, Olympic commissioners and Chinese and overseas reporters, and offered his New Year wishes.

Jiang expressed hope that the reporters would continue to witness and support the preparatory work for the Beijing Olympic Games. He also said that BOCOG would continue to provide even more professional and convenient services to global news media.

More than 400 people, including senior government officials, representatives from embassies, Olympic commissioners, overseas reporters and well-known Chinese athletes attended the event. Spokespersons for the Beijing municipal government and BOCOG's relevant departments also attended the event
