BOCOG President updates IOC on Olympic prep

President of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) Liu Qi made a detailed presentation via teleconference on December 11 to the IOC Executive Board in Lausanne on the preparatory work for the 2008 Olympic Games.

His report covered recent progress, the work ahead in the next year for the Good Luck Beijing sport events, BOCOG's relations with the international sports federations (IFs); the Beijing 2008 Chefs de Mission seminar, the services for the national and regional Olympic committees (NOCs), media services, environmental protection, venue construction, ticketing, marketing and brand protection, torch relay and accreditation.

The IOC Executive Board and BOCOG exchanged views on the promotion of the preparations for the 2008 Games. IOC President Jacques Rogge, who chaired the conference, and Hein Verbruggen, chairman of IOC Coordination Commission for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, expressed their appreciation at BOCOG's efforts to ramp up Olympic preparations. They said IOC would strengthen its cooperation with BOCOG to ensure the success of the 2008 Games.
